Kontokali, also known as Κοντόκαλι in Greek, is a charming suburb located approximately 6 km north of Corfu City.

Positioned on a captivating headland separating the gulf from Gouvia’s natural harbour and marina, Kontókali offers a blend of natural beauty and nautical charm. On the eastern side of the headland, facing Corfu Town, you’ll find a slender sandy beach lined with exquisite private villas. Don’t miss out on The Venetian Shipyard, also known as the Venetian Arsenal, the remains of an ancient shipyard located in the bay of Gouvia, adjacent to the marina. This site is open to the public, and admission is free. Originally constructed by the Venetians in the early 18th century, the shipyard served as a hub for the construction and repair of watercraft. Today, visitors can observe the well-preserved columns and arches of the solid building, although the roof is no longer intact. While some areas within the shipyard may be slightly overgrown with grass, the main passages remain clean and accessible.

From the Venetian Arsenal, you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire Gouvia bay, including the Kommeno peninsula and the Ipapandi church.
